Word Plugin is a nightmare extremely slow itself and when it's open slow down / delay typing in Word to the extend it's not longer working. Once they're done implementing all those features in MD, they'll shut Desktop down completely after syncing our data to MRM. Meanwhile, people can still use MD since it's much better and has more features. So they're slowly adding the MD features to the new MRM. Once we are confident that the new Mendeley Reference Manager meets our users' reference management needs we will start to begin the migration process by notifying you via emails and other forms of communication. While we work hard to bring all the features you use and care about to Mendeley Reference Manager, Mendeley Desktop is still available for use. The new Mendeley Reference Manager is constantly improving with regular updates. Mendeley Desktop will continue to be available. Mendeley Reference Manager is the new version of our reference manager that replaced Mendeley Web Library on September 07, 2020. I haven't updated so I'm not sure, but everyone seems to be complaining. It's not completely unsalvageable however, a massive overhaul of the UI, menus, functionality, and the addition of new features is what it will take before I can consider going back to using Mendeley. Cannot setup a "live" folder where references are automatically imported when added.Laughably empty menus with an unintuitive setup, organization, and order.Exporting and importing is not intuitive.Completely not useable when the window is not maximized. The preview/info pane seen when clicking on a reference completely obstructs the view of the main window.Cannot use keyboard arrow keys or keyboard shortcuts in general to navigate through references (forcing me to click everywhere - a pain for laptop use without a mouse for sure).Cannot change the size of the windows/frames, sub-menus, or even column spacing in the reference table.Don't like the font size or spacing? too bad! This kills me. No ability to change preferences or settings AT ALL in the program.I recently had to change my computer and go through some upgrades in software at work, and I wanted to share my grievances on the new MRM. MD had a pretty complete set of features, an intuitive interface, and reasonable integration with word processing software (although I never used that feature much). As a 10+ year user of Mendeley Desktop (MD), it is difficult to express the horror I experienced when I switched to using Mendeley Reference Manager (MRM).
